Attention Bay Area Travelers: Make Money By Attending Tomorrow’s Warriors Game
An interesting email just popped into my inbox about the Golden State Warriors’ upcoming home games this week against the Miami Heat on Monday January 11th and the Lakers on Thursday January 14th. Both games feature a giveaway, and as much as I’d like another bobblehead for my collection, the giveaway for the Miami Heat game tomorrow caught my eye:
First 12,000 fans receive a half off flight voucher from Alaska Airlines.
Clicking through the link takes you to the offer page, which outlines the promotion. The key highlights appear to be:
- Valid for flights from April 21, 2016 to June 15, 2016 (blackout dates May 26-31, 2016)
- Offer is only for non-stop flights from San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland
- Destination list is quite extensive, and includes popular vacation destinations in Mexico and Hawaii
- 50% voucher can be used for up to 2 travelers per reservation
- Need to book by January 15, 2016

So as far as I can tell, it appears that this voucher is basically the same as the 2-for-1 companion certificate that you get from the Alaska Airlines Bank of America credit card. Except you get it simply for showing up to a basketball game, with no hard credit pull needed.
Currently I’m seeing resale tickets for tomorrow’s game for as little as $84, meaning that if you are planning a trip during that timeframe and were going to book in the next few days, it could seriously be worth your while to make a trip out to Oracle Arena to attend Monday’s game. Just make sure you get there early to ensure that you are one of the first 12,000 fans. Plus, it’s not like you’re throwing that money down the toilet, since you’d buying a ticket to watch the most exciting team in the NBA.
I’ve had my eye on a trip to Hawaii in May, and with ticket prices in the $500 range during that time, applying one of these vouchers would essentially save $500 for 2 people, which would definitely be worth spending <$100 for a ticket.
And even if you don’t make it to the game tomorrow, it may be worth keeping your eyes open for some of these codes, as I’d imagine that the vast majority of these 12,000 vouchers won’t be used and could be floating around.
