Back to the Motherland: Exploring Hong Kong

We planned to spend three night in Hong Kong after our week and a half in Vietnam.  Having lived in Hong Kong before, I was really familiar with the city and would serve as Lisa’s tour guide during her first visit there.

Hotels in Hong Kong are really expensive, and I was fortune to be able to use  my 2 system-wide free nights obtained from the Chase Hyatt card to book the Hyatt Regency in Tsim Tsa Tsui, and then used SPG points to book our last night at the W Hotel.  The Hyatt Regency is actually quite a bit cheaper than the Grand Hyatt and the main reason I didn’t book there was location.  The Hyatt Regency in TST is really in a prime location, and close to many of the things we wanted to see/eat.  This is an example where I didn’t “maximize” the value of my free nights by booking the more expensive hotel, but I think this approach worked better for us in the end.

The Hyatt Regency is a really modern and chic hotel and again is in a fantastic location.  The W Hotel isn’t in as prime a location, but was really convenient for jumping on the Airline Express MTR.

We spent the next couple days eating and sightseeing at the peak, Lantau Island, night markets, and the walk of fame.  Overall, it was a great way to wrap up the trip.
