The 10 Most Instagrammed Locations In 2014

Instagram has quickly become my favorite social media platform, and it sounds like I’m not alone. The popular photo-sharing app has grown by 50% over the past 9 months and has reached 300 million monthly users, which means that it’s officially bigger than Twitter.

It’s also a sign of the times in terms of how we take and share photos. As phone cameras continue to improve, unless you’re a professional there’s really no need to drag around heavy camera equipment. And Instagram can even make a novice photographer like myself look good, with the ability to easily edit and add filters to any photo.

So where are people most likely to Instagram? CNN has provided an update on the annual list of the top 10 most Instagrammed locations in the world. Here’s the 2013 list:

1. Siam Paragon, Bangkok
2. Times Square, New York
3. Disneyland, Anaheim, California
4. Bellagio Fountains, Las Vegas
5. Disney World Florida
6. Staples Center, Los Angeles
7. Central Park, New York
8. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles
9. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Bangkok
10. The High Line, New York

And the updated 2014 list:

10. The Dubai Mall, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
9. Yankee Stadium, New York
8. Madison Square Garden, New York
7. Red Square, Moscow

Seems like a running theme are that the locations aren’t so much about traditionally picturesque settings where you’d host a photo shoot, but rather activity-based locations such as shopping malls, sports stadiums, and amusement parks. I guess this validates that Disneyland is indeed the happiest place on Earth, so much so that you feel compelled to share with your friends!
